Scrap metal dealer found dead

Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old Barrackpore scrap-metal dealer whose body was found at King’s Wharf, San Fernando, yesterday. The body of Kendall Elahie, of Sand Hill, was found at the beachfront at Lady Hailes Avenue by his brother, Kenrick Elahie. Kenrick told police when his brother failed to return home after going for a swim, he searched for him in the nearby Hatters’ panyard.

He found the body lodged between rocks on the seashore. Police officers visited the scene along with a district medical officer. They said there were no signs of violence on the body and a preliminary examination suggests Elahie drowned. The body was removed to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital and later transferred to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy. Cpl David is continuing investigations.
